ON EQUIVALENT JOB-BLOCK WEIGHTED SCHEDULING PROBLEM

All the prior studies in scheduling theory do not consider weight factor in the process of scheduling products on machines in a flow-shop. Only in the recent eighties the weight of a job has been taken into consideration by Miyazaki in 1980 and in 1982 by Maggu etc. in their respective studies with different approaches. The weight of a job shows relative importance of that job over another job in the scheduling process and thereby in loose sense it may be treated as fixing up priority of a job over another job by attaching to a job attaching higher weight. The higher the weight is attached to a job the more important it becomes from operational point of view.
