Sumitomo, BASF partner in chemical safety evaluation R&D

Sumitomo Chemical and BASF have agreed to collaborate on research into a more sustainable, in vitro system for evaluating chemical safety. Sumitomo and BASF aim to create a system that supports the development of safe chemicals while reducing the need for conventional animal testing. More stringent regulations for registering agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals in recent years and the demand to increase the human relevance of safety studies triggered the decision.
