German chemical workers demonstrate in Ludwigshafen

Shortly before the fourth and decisive round of tarif pay negotiations for workers in Germany’s chemical industry, 18,000 employees have demonstrated in Ludwigshafen in support of the pay demands of the trade union IG BCE (Hanover). The trade union represents 550,000 works in Germany’s mining, energy, and chemical sectors. Companies in Germany’s chemical industry, represented by the employers association BAVC (Wiesbaden) made an ofer of a pay rise of 1.6% during the last round of negotiations, to run for a period of 15 months.
