Asian Ethylene Price Likely to Remain at High Levels Till End of 2016

Ethylene prices are expected to remain at high levels in Asian markets until the end of this year against a backdropof shortage of ethylene supply due to shutdown to conduct periodic maintenance and due to troubles at naphtha crackers.If Royal Dutch Shell should resume operation of its cracker in July, which is capable of producing 960,000 tons per yearof ethylene, prices may fall temporarily. However, since total four crackers will be shut for turnaround in Japan, SouthKorea and Taiwan during the period from August through September, the influence by restarting Shell’s cracker is likelyto be offset.
