Traders Expect China’s Petcoke Imports to Remain Low in 2015

It is expected that China’s petroleum coke imports will remain low during 2015. The annual imports of 2014 decreased to 5.33 million MT, down by 3.99 million MT (43%) on the year. Sources in the industry predict that the imports of 2015 would be the same level as the previous year. The huge import drop in 2014 resulted in China’s shrinking economy and environmental regulations. Consumers in the country reduced the consumption of the petcoke with sulfur content of 6% and above.
