China May Abolish Export Duty on Coal from 2014

Speculations are rife that the Government of China will abolish 10% export duty levied on coal from January 2014. It is not yet in sight at the moment whether the coal export duty will be surely abolished or not. However, as 40% export duty levied on coal coke was abolished in January 2013, it is quite likely the coal export duty will be removed. Some producers in China also are said to sound Japanese trading firms out on resumption of export of thermal coal on the assumption the export duty will be abolished.
