Taiwan's FPCC Increases Its Ethylene Production By 16% To 180,000 MT In July

Taiwan's ethylene production in July 2011 amounted to 267,000 MT with an increase of 7.4% from the previous month. Looking at production by company, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, or FPCC, produced 187,000 MT in July, up 16.1% from a month ago. Its No.1 naphtha cracker, with capacity to produce 700,000 tons per year of ethylene, has been under suspension since a fire accident on May 12th. On top of that, turnaround of 1.2 million tpy No.3 cracker has started on August 15th. As a result, FPCC's production in August is estimated to be reduced to around 140,000 MT.
