TEPCO To Begin Start-up Test For Unit 5 At Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Plant-Scheduled to operate the nuclear reactor in the afternoon of Nov 18th

As Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, was given approval from the local government in order to resume operations of unit 5, with rating output of 1.1 million KW, at Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, in Kashiwazaki city and Kariwa village, Niigata Prefecture, it is expected to begin a start-up test for the unit at 10:00 p.m. on November 17th. In the afternoon of November 18th, the company is also scheduled to operate the nuclear reactor and start power generation by withdrawal of control rods, which restrain nuclear fission of uranium fuel.
