For 'Super Audio Compact Discs,' cyclo-olefin copolymer from Ticona is challenging polycarbonate. This new SACD format enables an optical disc to be played on either a conventional CD player or a super-audio version. Initial SACD titles have been on the same polycarbonate which dominates conventional CDs. However, proponents claim cyclo-olefin copolymer provides better quality. The first two replicates to use the C-OC resin are the Sonopress Div. of Bertelsmann AG in Germany and Crest in the U.S.
