Flexion contracture usually arises from late or inadequate treatment of burn injuries. Release of palmar burn contractures results in soft-tissue defects in this region. The ideal reconstructive method should have the following features: one-stage operation, compatible tissue used to replace excised tissue, resistant to recurrent contracture, thin and pliable flap for molding the palmar region contour, and minimal donor-site morbidity. Different reconstructive methods have been used for treatment. However, satisfactory aesthetic and functional results are difficult to achieve.
