摘要

This paper presents the in-house wiring method for a 60-GHz wireless campus network. In Japan, this frequency band was approved for use without a license for the first time in August 2000 by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. We have constructed a new campus network in the Shinjuku district, in which the main buildings are connected by the new 60-GHz wireless system. Two methods, one using a two-strand fiber cable and the other using a multistrand fiber cable, for in-house wiring are studied and their costs for the campus network construction are compared. We found the multistrand fiber cables could be made more cost-effective and easy to install by using fiber junction boxes and media converters. We have confirmed the validity of the in-house wiring method in the Waseda campus network.
