摘要

This paper reports on experimental work into the development of a clamp-on flowmeter for the measurement of low liquid flowrates in small diameter pipes. The meter is based on the interaction of ultrasound with changes in temperature generated by electrical heaters. Results are presented showing the performance of the meter in both laminar and turbulent flow regimes. The variation in response of the meter when mounted on vertical and horizontal pipes is demonstrated and discussed. The need for different heater powers, and the options for scaling results based on heater power are investigated. Repeatability measurements (including the effects of unclamping and reclamping the meter) are presented and compared with currently available devices. [References: 4]
