Improved technology to reduce power cuts

Yorkshire based company Freedom Digital Networks (FDN) believes it is pioneering technology that could herald the end of lengthy power cuts for homes and businesses. FDN says it has recently carried out a successful trial of its Smartgrid technology on the island of Jersey, and is now urging utility companies to use its system of digital solutions to become smarter. Currently, if there is a fault anywhere along the chain between power station and user, it may require a man in a van to be despatched to locate the problem. If, for instance, a power line is blown down in strong winds, the process of pinpointing the damage can be one of trial and error due to the distances involved, often leaving homes and businesses without power for several hours.
