Lysis of Catatonic Withdrawal by Propofol in a Bone-Marrow Transplant Recipient with Adenovirus Limbic Encephalitis

The evaluation of hospitalized patients with agitation can be challenging, especially when an immunocom-promised state introduces the potential for central nervous system (CNS) infections. The presentation of agitation in a patient with psychiatric diagnoses and comorbid medical conditions further confounds assessment, as the differential diagnosis includes both medical and psychiatric causes of catatonia and delirious agitation.
