Q1 PRB production down 19 million tons on annual basis from Q1 2011 results

Hanou Energy Consulting, LLC has compiled the latest quarterly production statistics made available on the MSHA website. Preliminary Ql 2012 production data indicate the Powder River Basin produced 111 million tons versus 116 million tons in Ql 2011 - a 19 million-ton drop on an annual basis from Ql 2011.With the market in the doldrums due to a warm winter and low natural gas prices due to plentiful natural gas supplies, Hanou Energy is projecting PRB production to continue to drop. For 2012, total PRB production is projected to drop by a minimum of 30 million tons from 2011 levels and to be 60 million tons lower than its peak production year when 496 million tons were produced in 2008.
