While underground mining has resumed at Oak Grove, prep plant still down

Power has been fully restored and underground mining has resumed at Cliffs Natural Resources' Oak Grove mine in Alabama, the company said. Above-ground operations at Oak Grove were struck April 27 by severe weather, including a tornado. All of Oak Grove's employees have returned to work, but due to the significant damage to the mine's preparation plant and overland conveyor system, the Cliffs' operations team continues to evaluate the storm's impact to its above-ground operations. Until the evaluation is complete, Cliffs will stockpile the raw coal until the repairs to the overland conveyor system and preparation plant are completed.
