ICG's Nicholson fires back as Lexington newspaper misses the point in story

Looking for the glaring errors in most media stories about the coal industry is a lot easier than playing "Where's Waldo" because the errors usually just jump off the page or TV screen. That's the case in a July 28 story in the Lexington Herald Leader about how coal companies could be pooling their money to start what amounts to a political action committee. Is it possible some in the industry may be linking arms and targeting political candidates? Yes. Would the target of any such group likely be supporters of the Obama administration? Yes. Is the reason the industry has a problem with the administration because of its stand on mine safety in a post-Upper Big Branch disaster environment? You've got to be kidding.
