With an impressive 38 years of experience in the construction industry Hartlepool-bred Tony Aikenhead knows what he's talking about. This is a man who has worked on projects as prestigious as the Second Severn Crossing, the GlaxoSmithKline research and development facility in Stevenage and the Millennium Dome; one assumes - quite rightly - that he is well equipped to take on the big construction projects and deliver to a consistently high standard. One might also assume that even with all his experience, Tony would have felt somewhat overwhelmed by the prospect of leading the design and construction of the 80,000-capacity ?500m Olympic Stadium.
