Much of the world is broken up into different professions, each with its own body of knowledge, Historically; this knowl?edge has not been widely spread and is often jealously guarded, to such an extent that learning what you need to know could take years of study and substantial cost. The Project Manage?ment Institute started a modern trend in 1987 towards making knowledge explicit with a white paper entitled A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
