Chinese quality experts have visited companies in California as part of a global exchange of manufacturing best practices. The delegation of quality professionals and government officials from the Chongqing municipality was invited to the US by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) to see quality processes in action. The visitors spent a day at Overland Storage, a manufacturer of data protection tools with ISO 9001 certification.They also watched demonstrations of six sigma and lean practices and heard from a panel of local experts from ASQ. It is hoped the tour will prove useful in rebuilding businesses throughout the Chinese province after the earthquake in May 2008.
