Verso's Apr. 5 announcement that it will shutter its already idled-. Wickliffe, KY. coated freesheet (CFS) paper mill is likely to be only the first coated paper capacity closure this year, sources said. Demand for coated papers remains weak, with CFS demand down 1.9% in the first two months of the year and coated mechanical (CM) demand down 9.3%. "These numbers were also inflated by the extra day in February, so the actual performance was slightly worse," RISI world graphic papers VP John Maine noted in the latest Paper Trader.
