Brown bag paper shipments surging as fast food chains make shift from white paper

The shift of McDonald's and other fast food restaurants from white to brown carryout bags and food wraps has caused unbleached kraft paper shipments to show their strongest growth in years. Unbleached kraft bag and sack shipments through the first nine months of 2015 are up 16.5% to nearly 700,000 tons, while bleached shipments are down by 16.9% to 13,000 tons, according to American Forest & Paper Association statistics.
