UPM to participate in Nanoreg project on safety of nanomaterials

UPM is participating in the EU's extensive Nanoreg project on the safety of nanomaterials. The project is a joint effort by the authorities and the industry, in Finland, the goal in the five-year project is to continue to study the safety of microfibrillar and nanofibriliar cellulose. To date, only a little is known about the health and environmental hazard impacts of nanoparticles, although the industrial use of nanomaterials has increased rapidly.
