The traveling technician problem (TTP) is a multiserver, sequence-dependent, tardiness minimization problem. As an index of service quality, it is related to issues like tardiness, phone response time, promise time, response time, etc., specific to the service environments. A simulation experiment is used to explain these parameters. The proposed scheduling procedures hold promise for improving service quality in a wide variety of field service organizations.
