摘要

The selective assembly concepts are briefed from the perspective of the traditional approaches in which the populations of interest (shaft and hole) are made into equal parts and are interchangeably used in the assembly. In order to overcome the problem of minimizing the clearance variation, an innovative method is proposed that is based on a genetic algorithm. It is observed that unlike the traditional approaches where only the corresponding group of selective assembly is considered, the proposed method considers the case of assembling the selective groups with different combinations that will result in minimum clearance variation.
