If the lack of available information were not reason enough for this book to beadded to the list of professional editing tools, its timeliness should be noted as well.Few would argue that the book publishing industry is presently undergoing asignificant transition. As the Internet has starting making inroads into the traditionalprocess, more and more authors are taking publishing into their own hands andturning to www.lulu.com or one of the other new Web-based services. Publishers,too, are changing the way they operate; in response to current economic problems,there is greater reliance on freelancers, packagers, or the authors themselves todevelop manuscripts.
