I remember reading that when Lucille Ball was expecting her second child,she had to fight to portray her delicate condition on television.It was the first time pregnancy was directly dealt with on TV,and the whole idea made the "I Love Lucy" sponsors mighty jumpy.This was 1952;network censors wouldn't allow her to say the word "pregnant," but the less evocative "expectant." In a nod to Desi Arnaz,the Spanish equivalent of pregnant was even used in the episode's title,"Lucy is Enceinte."
