This great wealth is literally lying under our feet. We have found it, and we know how to produce it. If we don't get busy putting the American people to work developing it and building the infrastructure we need to use, we will go down, as T. Boone Pickens rightly says, as the dumbest generation in American history. Throughout our history, Americans have been at the forefront of energy developments on this planet. We were prolific whale oilers and wood burners. We perfected steam engines. Americans invented the oil and natural gas economy. We split the atom to power homes, businesses and ships. We are among the world's best at producing electricity from coal, wind, hydro and solar resources. We are investing heavily in alternative, renewable and hydrogen resources. We are a resourceful people when it comes to energy.
