Check the mortality young fruit plants in orchards

Field surveys and observations revealed various causes for the death of young plants. Their possible control and preventive measures have been discussed here. Some of newly planted fruit plants, either fail to survive upon transplanting or do not make satisfactory growth in the field, remain sickly and ultimately die. The reasons can be many; inability to withstand transplanting shock; stionic incompatibility; inadequate plant nutrition; prolonged water-logged or stress conditions; early and overbearing; susceptibility to insect pest and diseases. Field surveys and observations revealed various causes for the death of young plants, and their possible control and preventive measures have been discussed.
