Direct payment scheme for farmers

With the commencement of kharif marketing season, the farmers are entitled to get direct payment of their produce if the purchase is made by any of the state government agencies like Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and Punjab Agro Industries.n order to boost the cash-in-hand with the farmers, the Punjab Mandi Board has launched a Direct Payment Scheme for the procurement of farm produce from farmers. Under Section 24(11) of 'Punjab State Agricultural Produce Markets (General) Rule 1962', thefarmers now can get direct payments from the buyers for the sale of their produce. Under this scheme, a farmer is facilitated to recieve their payments directly from the buyer through an account payee cheque or an electronic transfer. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the farmer will have to submit his consent for taking direct payment through 'Form-S', available in all market committee offices of their concerned area. A farmer will have to submit the 'Form-S', 45 days before the commencement of the marketing season. He will have to fill in his personal and banking details like name, permanent address of correspondence, name of the bank, bank account number and its I.F.S.C. code in the 'Form-S'. Apart from wheat and paddy, the farmers can get thedirect payment for other crops as well at the time of open auction. With the commencement of the coming kharif marketing season, the state farmers are entitled to get direct payment of their produce if the purchase is made by any of the state governmentagencies like Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and Punjab Agro Industries. The farmer will have to get his name, father's name,name of the district, name of the village, permanent address of correspondence, pin code, mobile number and aadhar card number, etc. registered with the office of the market committee through which they are going to sell their produce. The market committee will issue a unique eight digit ID number to the farmer on the basis of information provided by him. The farmer will have to get this ID number registered with any one of the below mentioned 15 banks where he is an account holder.
