How to Control Weeds Particularly ItsitChupati in Cotton

摘要

COTTON is an important fibre crop of the Punjab State. Adoption of improved technology such as high yielding varieties, timely sowing, plant population, balanced nutrition and irrigations, plant protection measures including weed control have led to the increased production of this crop in the state. Infestation of weeds in cotton pose a great problem as it is sown with a wider row spacing and weeds finds ample space to grow. Moreover the growing period coincides with the monsoon rains which provides favourably environments for the weeds to grow luxuriently. To get higher returns it thus becomes imperative to apply timely weed control measures to eliminate crop-weed competition at the proper stage of the crop growth.
