Improving agriculture is a must for food security

For the nation's progress, agricultural sector has to be sustainable in India. Our strategy must be pro-nature and pro-small farmer. AGRICULTURE continues to be the backbone of the people and economy of India providing a key share in livelihood for the majority of rural people who live in half a million Indian villages. It not only provides a livelihood to millions of small resource-poor farmers but is also a life-line for 1.1 million rural and urban Indians directly or indirectly. If agriculture grows, we grow! Three key developments in agricultural sector that happened in India are: The Green Revolution, Hybrids Seeds, and Development of Biotech Crops.
