Food scraps can be recycled easily at home using earthworms. This composting with earth worms is an excellent technique for recycling food waste. FOOD waste constitutes a major portion of the solid waste This waste is either burned or buried causing economic and environmental loss. Instead of discarding food scraps, these can be recycled conveniently using earthworms at homes only. This process is called vermicomposting (Worm composting). Vermicomposting or composting with earth worms is an excellenttechnique for recycling food waste. Vermicompost is a complete plant nutrient and contains not only worm castings but also bedding material and organic waste at various stages of decomposition. It also contains worms of various stages of development and other microbes associated with composting process.
