Training and pruning of deciduous fruit trees is of utmost importance because of their bearing habits and framework required for proper growth and development of plants as well as fruits. It also helps in maintaining the plant vigour. In Punjab, there is 34289 ha area under fruit crops and this figure can be increased, as there is lot of scope of orcharding under diversification to uplift the socio-economic status of the people and providing them nutritious diet. Beside this, adopting refind cultural and protective measures can increase the productivity and quality of fruit crops.
