Species composition and structure of Carabidae (Coleoptera) assembly in cultivation of winter oilseed rape in Osowo (Pomorskie Voivoleship).

The research on species composition and ecological structure of the carabids' assembly (Coleoptera: Carabidae) was studied on a winter rape field near the Osowo village (54 degrees 12'N, 16 degrees 48'E); from end of April to October 2006. 3 116 specimens belonging to 60 species were caught using Barber traps. The presence of 2 dominants: Harpalus rufipes, Calathus fuscipes and 4 subdominants: Amara similata, Dolichus halensis, Pterostichus melanarius, Poecilus versicolor. Two main peaks of imagines' activity density were noted: on 11th of May (3.14+or-0.80 specimen/trap/day) and 25th of July (6.17+or-0.82). Shannon' diversity index oscillated from 0.89 nit 29th of August to 2.57 nit 12th of May. The representation of steppe and wood species was specific feature of assembly. This phenomenon may be a consequence of continuation process of changing field's fauna in conditions of change of as agricultural practice and possible impact of climate change.
