Effectiveness of selected insect treatments used as seed dressing in maize.

Field trials were conducted in Poland, in 2006-07, to evaluate the effectiveness of maize seed dressing with Mesurol 500 FS (methiocarb), Poncho 600 FS and Gaucho 600 FS (imidacloprid) against frit fly (Oscinella frit) and European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis). It was shown that additional seed dressing with insecticides, despite the applied product and research years, caused yield increase. Moreover, it was proved that seed dressing with insecticides was an effective way of damage reduction caused by popular maize insects such as frit fly.
