The threat of winter triticale crops by rusts.

Field trials with triticale cultivars Bogo and Marko were conducted in Poland, from 2005 to 2008, to determine the threat of rusts on winter triticale cultivars. The cultivars showed significant differences in infestation by brown rust. The cultivar Marko showed the highest susceptibility to this disease regardless of weather conditions and was also infected by Puccinia striiformis (yellow rust) in 2008. The applications of fungicides were more economical on highly susceptible cultivar Marko than on less susceptible cultivar Bogo.
