Coating compositions based on modified phenol-formaldehyde resin and urethane prepolymers [Review]

New polymer compositions were synthesised on the base of butyloxylated phenol-formaldehyde resin and three kinds of urethane oligomers. These oligomers were obtained from TDI and selected commercial oligoetherols Rokopol. Coatings based on these compositions were manufactured and their various properties were determined. The coatings exhibited a very good adhesion to metallic substrate, good elasticity and an excellent chemical resistance to selected corrosive media. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
