摘要

A computational method is developed for determining temperature distributions in machining with coolant. Models for heat sources and equations for heat-transfer coefficients used in the calculations were presented in Part 1. In Part 2 the finiteelement method is applied to solve the steady two-dimensional energy equation with a coolant used on the boundaries. Using this method temperature distributions throughout the tool, work and chip in machining with coolant are calculated, given theexperimental values of the cutting forces and chip thickness, the thermal properties of the work and tool materials and the heat-transfer coefficients at the boundaries. The calculated tool temperatures are compared to results measured experimentally andsatisfactory agreement is shown.
