摘要

The coke dry cooling (CDC) technology, the other alternative to wet quenching system, in the post- carbonisation process has established itself as a viable option to achieve energy conservation, improved coke quality and quantifiable environmental benefits. The worldwide evolution of CDC technology took off from a relatively dormant stage of widely adopted GIPROKOKS design to gradually evolved and upscaled coke cooling modules with concurrent adoption of a number of improved features. The first Indian CDC Plant was commissioned in Visakhapatnam in 1989. Subsequent plants in VSP itself and later installations in NINL, Orissa progressively adopted advancements, demonstrating India's ability to absorb technological advances done elsewhere in the world and gain a firm foothold on the same. The workability of retrofitting CDCP units in brown-field coke plants has been assessed and it has been found feasible to install tailormade CDCP configurations to suit existing plant layouts. Cost to benefit ratios have been evaluated and the results are favourable.
