Preventive Medicine in 2030

One notable recent development in Preventive Medicine (PM) is the inclusion of more material that is explicitly philosophical, either in its topical focus, or in the methods it employs. In 2011, there was a special section containing a number of papers broadly philosophical in content under the title "Causation, Risk, and Epidemiology" (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/jourrtal/00917435/53/4-5). These papers arose from a series of workshops in Cambridge in 2010. This year (2012) another special section is devoted explicitly to "Philosophy of Epidemiology", following a conference on the topic at the University of Johannesburg in December 2011.
