In a keynote lecture to a large audience, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers last February, Dr Richard Pike, CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry, made a provocative claim that oil is not running out and will last another 80 years. His lecture, with the appropriate title "But remaining proved reserves are much higher; don't you know how to add up? The positive implications of Peak Oil" was very informative and thought provoking.
