Infrared spectroscopy and more recently Raman spectroscopy are key tools in many industrial and forensic laboratories for fingerprinting commercial polymers. Tools that aid identifying, classifying and characterizing vibrational spectra of polymers can be invaluable and cost-effective, both in terms of labor efficiency and classification accuracy.
