Effect of the Air Diffusion in the Oxidation Reactions of Turkish Goynuk and U.S Western Reference Oil Shales

The factors controlling the heterogeneous kinetics of reactions involving a solid phase are inadequately understood. Reaction of the solid particle with a reactive gas starts at the surface where the reactants contact. The interaction of a solid particle with a reactive gas theoretically involves the diffusion of the gas to the surface and into the pores of the solid particle, diffusion from the particle surface or from the pores into the reaction sites, and reaction between the gas and the solid.
