FCC is the most important process of heavy oil conversion and about 90% of sulfur of commercial gasoline is from FCC gasoline. Sulfur reduction of FCC gasoline in situ catalytic cracking, including sulfur reduction additive and FCC catalyst with the function of sulfur reduction, as a cheap routine of sulfur removal is attracting more and more researchers. In this aspect Wormsbecher and Kim, who developed the first generation of sulfur removal additive of FCC gasoline (GSR-1), are the pioneers. GSR-1, mainly composed of ZnO and Al_2O_3, contains more Lewis acid which can selectively adsorb thiophenes in FCC gasoline [1-3]. GSR-1 has been used extensively in Europe and North America and has provided gasoline reductions ranging from 15-25%. Recent improvements in this technology have resulted in consistent sulfur reduction results at the 20% level [4].
