Oil fly ash is one of the raw materials to produce vanadium products in the world. After the producing process, large percentage,60-80%,of unburned carbons are residual as byproducts, which only can e burned with few additive amounts in fuel or be industrial waste. In order to deal with the carbons in the future, this research purifies the residue carbons by acid solutioin and exams the characteristics of the carbons. The results show that the carbon is 95wt% of carbon content and with the chemical feature of adsorptive ability.According ot the results of physical analyses, the carbon's density is about 2.1g/cm~3,and surface area is about 21-42m~2/g.The carbon is consisted of particles in size between numbers to 300 micron, and two types,Porous and foamed types,of particles can be found by their appearance. Then, the carbon's phases are analyzed by XRD and TEM,by which phases such as graphite, amorphous and graphite 2H are found in it.Conclusively,Unburned carbon present in oil fly ash shall be recycled as carbon materials potentially.
