THE king of the hill of biotech traits — Monsanto — is facing new competitive pressures these days as Dow AgroSciences, DuPont and Syngenta all enter the trait market. Recently Farm Progress got a chance to discuss Syngenta's program in more detailwith Jack Bernens, business unit head for Agrisure Traits, and Jon Scharingson, who is responsible for the AgriEdge program for soybeans. Last year, Syngenta began a program to market biotech traits to seed companies. The aim was to create more choice in the market and involved the creation of the Agrisure trait line.
