ALITTLE more than six years ago, Al-lerton farmer Curt Elmore was involved with multiple swine research projects at the University of Kentucky, as he finished his master's degree in animal nutrition. When he graduated, he decided to return home and farm corn and soybeans with his father. Today, Curt, at 32 years old, runs the 1,700-acre farm. "In 2005, Dad gave me 170 acres, half of what he was share-cropping for one landlord," Curt remembers. "I had to pay for my inputs. That was my reintroduction to the farm."
