摘要

Experimental measurements on the solid concentration field in a pipeline transporting multi-sized particulate slurries are reported.Solid concentrations have been measured over the entire crosssection of the pipe (105 mm NB) over a wide range of efflux concentrations (8 to 40 % by weight) and flow velocities (1.6 to 3 m/s).Further the samples at various locations have been sieve analyzed to determine the distribution of different size fractions acrossthe pipe cross-section.The measurements have shown that the settling process due to gravity occurs mostly along vertical chorda. However,this is affected drastically by wall proximity and local solid concentration.It is also observed that the redistribution of particles is confined to larger size fractions.
