Following the receipt of quality turkey hatching eggs from the farm there are many factors in the hatchery from storage through to poult delivery which can influence hatchability and pour quality. We recommend a temperature range of 55-63 deg F (12.8-18.3 deg C) with a relative humidity of not over 75 percent. The longer the storage period cooler temperatures within the range are more beneficial. The hatching egg loses a relatively small amount of moisture and gases even in long term storage. Humidity levels above 75 percent do not reduce these losses but may in fact create the potential for mould and bacterial growth which can have a negative effect on poult quality.
